Take Care of Yourself is song originally by Teddy Thompson. It was sung by Jesse St. James in the second episode to the first season of Glee: The Unitards, Smooth Criminal.
In the pilot episode, In The Beginning, auditions are being held at Jackson High for new members in the school's glee club, The Unitards. Amanda Evans auditions with Paramore's Crushcrushcrush, and Jesse, the club director, loves her performance and deems her the new female lead performer. Harmony, the previous lead female performer, was shocked, and slapped Jesse out of frustration and anger. This led Jesse to kicking Harmony out of the glee club, much to her dismay. In Smooth Criminal, Jesse gives Harmony another chance at getting back into the glee club by allowing her a second audition into the club. Before Harmony's audition, Jesse states to Harmony that if she isn't accepted, it's not because she had slapped him, it was because she just wasn't good enough. He sings Take Care of Yourself to let her know this. Later on, she auditions with Celine Dion's Taking Chances, but at the end, Jesse claims she doesn't have the star potential for the club, leading Harmony even more angry than previously.
